Not widely seen but the unspeakable Megaskepasma erythrochlamys is unmissable when you do. It can be pushed to full sun or full shade but somewhere in between – and spoilt with rich, moist and warm conditions – is more likely to produce such a tropical wall of lush green with red flames. Though tall and upright, easy to prune and good for a quick-growing screen, it's not really a plant for small spaces. The Growing Friends often have it for sale at Sydney's Botanic Gardens.
